Dr. Charissa Young

Dr. Young’s Practice Philosophy:

“I strive to practice by the Golden Rule: Treating patients as I would want to be treated, with personalized eye care and treatment plans with an emphasis on disease prevention.”

Dr. Young performs eye evaluations for patients in all age groups with an emphasis in contact lenses and eye disease.

Dr. Young grew up in Duarte, California and completed dual bachelor degrees in Journalism and French at the University of Kansas. She continued her education at Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon, graduating with her doctorate degree with Beta Sigma Kappa honors designation. She combines her passions for writing, research, and modern medicine as a contributing writer to several medical eye care journals.

Dedicated to providing patient-focused eye care, Dr. Young completed a one-year post-graduate fellowship at a specialty eye care clinic in the Seattle area and presented several research papers at national conferences. She is certified to fit a variety of contact lenses, ranging from soft to rigid gas permeable to multifocal designs. She has also completed a fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Scleral Lens Society (FSLS).

Dr. Young is an active member of Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW), American Optometric Association (AOA), Scleral Lens Society (SLS) and American Academy of Optometry (AAO). She also volunteers regularly for Seattle-area homeless organizations and leads eye care missions in rural and underserved areas of Thailand, where she has family.
